Class Policies

  • Registration and pre-payment is required to save your spot.
  • If you need to withdraw from a class for which you are registered, please give 24 hours notice in order to receive a refund or credit.
  • Materials are available at The Bead Gallery at a 15% discount to class participants. Be sure to mention that the purchases you are making are for a class so we can be sure to give you your discount.
  • Classes will run if there are two or more people enrolled. If you are the only person enrolled in a class, we will offer the class to you as a private lesson at private lesson rates. If you do not wish to take a private lesson, we will issue you a credit or refund.

Metal & Stone Classes

Classes are divided into #1 classes, which are suitable for any level of beading expertise, including beginner, and #2 classes, which are more suitable for those with some experience. The Bead Gallery staff will be happy to answer any questions you may have about classes.

Soldered Ring#1 - Soldered Ring
$50 Materials Extra (about $10)
Instructor: Angela

In just two and a half hours, you will learn to saw, bends, file, solder, anneal, pickle, and polish metal as you create a beautiful sterling silver ring. If after taking the class, you find out that you love working with metal, you can then sign up for the cabochon setting class and further embellish your ring.
Four(4) students maximum..

Soldered Ring#1 - Drilling a Stone/Tapping a Stone & Attaching a Bail
$30 Materials Extra
Instructor: Julia

Learn how to use a Foredom drill to make a bead out of a stone (or create a bigger hole in an existing bead.) Learn to “tap” (drill part way into) a stone and attach a bail using jeweler’s epoxy. If time permits, students will be able to tap their own stones. Students usually drill at least two stones.

Copper Silver Pendant#1 - Cut-Out Silver or Copper Pendant *NEW CLASS*

This basic class covers a multitude of metal-smithing techniques. First, learn the finer points of sawing when you cut out shapes in this modern copper pendant. Next, embellish your piece by filing, sanding, doming and hammering. Then, learn how to use a torch to solder a bail onto your pendant. Finally, polish your pendant, put it on a chain and get ready to accept a load of compliments.

Bezel Setting a Cabochon to a Ring#2 - Bezel Setting a Cabochon to a Ring
$60 Materials Extra (about $40)

Take your soldering skills and the ring you made in class #1 to the next level by embellishing it with a cabochon stone set in a silver bezel setting. You will learn how to form bezel wire around any shape cabochon, constructing a custom bezel cup. This class teaches how to attach a cabochon to a ring.
